UK Travel Rules — Fully Vaccinated Travellers Can Visit Without Covid Tests from Next Month
The country recently published a report that high-street businesses are dealing with losses due to this pandemic. The retail and hospitality sectors are seeing huge losses in the last year. Due to the spread of the new variant Omicron, everything was closed and stricter restrictions were implemented.
But, now the cases are decreasing and the number of infections is slow of the new Omicron strain. According to the new government guidelines, fully vaccinated travellers can visit the UK without any tests. Earlier, they have to submit negative test reports and also need pre-departure tests before landing in the UK.
Now, the UK government is opening for business and travel to boost the retail and hospitality sectors. The Transport Secretory Grant Shapps confirmed that from February 11, there would be no mandatory tests for fully vaccinated travellers. They can visit England without any pre-departure or other Covid tests.
Travellers who have two doses of vaccines in the approved list in the UK can visit the country. They do not need pre-departure or post-arrival tests in the UK for travel.
The Airline industry was campaigning for this for a long time. They welcomed the move, as the travel industry was in crisis due to this pandemic.
The Transport Secretary added that in 2022, coronavirus lockdowns and restrictions will be lifted and the government will not limit people’s lives.
Currently, people need pre-departure and post-arrival Covid test negative reports to travel, which increases their spending for the trip. People with positive coronavirus cases have to stay in self-isolation for 5 days, which is also an additional expense in their trip.
With the new rules, they do not need pre-departure or post-arrival tests in the country to travel. In addition, unvaccinated travellers will no longer be required to stay in self-isolation, Grant Shapps added.
The Airline industry was campaigning for a long time as the travel restrictions are affecting their profits.
As the Omicron variant is slow in spreading, right now cases are also decreasing in the UK. The government planned to drop travel bans, restrictions and limitations after seeing the data of Coronavirus cases in the UK.
In the coming months, the tourists will visit the UK without spending too much on the tests. The Transport Secretary added that we do not want to put travel restrictions in the place. Travellers can visit the country and save the extra spending for the pre-departure and post-arrival Covid tests.
However, 12 to 15-year-olds have to show their vaccinated certificate before any travel.
Further, the Transport Secretary said they are adding more vaccines from 16 nations to their approved vaccines list. For more visit UKSleepingPill
