As per the reports coming earlier, that Omicron is not severe as compared to the previous variants. However, a new study from the University of Cambridge warned Omicron not to get milder. A leading Indian-origin scientist from the University warned that Omicron is less severe, which is good news for now, but this is a result of an evolutionary mistake. It does not indicate that with time, the Omicron will be less severe. The Scientist warned that Covid would become more virulent in the future.

Ravindra Gupta, a University of Cambridge professor in the department of CITIID, lead a recent study about the severity of the new Omicron variant. He is among the first globally who worked and described the modified fusion of the Omicron variant cell mechanisms. He said that this new variant is more visible to the immune system of the body.

Many studies show that the Omicron is the dominant variant in the UK and other parts of the globe. Scientists say that the Omicron is infecting the cells found in the lungs. The Professor said that the virus is now in the evolutionary phase and will become more severe with time.

NHS Facing Staff Crisis, Army Deployed for Support

The Royal College of Nursing said that the NHS is dealing with a staff crisis right now. More than 200 British troops deployed at the NHS to assist the staff. He added that the army medics will help the doctors and general duty staff will fill the other gaps due to absences.

The travelers coming to the UK does not need pre-departure tests. The new travel rules will be changed from today. Those who are traveling to the UK need not to test them by the PCR test, which is too much costly. They can use the cheap lateral flow tests. In addition, the government added that there would be no need for self-isolation for vaccinated travelers.
